‘Silver Salt Animation Festival Comes to Bengaluru’

Silver Salt Animation Festival 2010 is arriving in Bengaluru on 14th March 2010. The Festival is slated to be hosted at Jawahar Bal Bhavan, Kasturba Road, Cubbon Park. The festival will take place from 10 am to 6 pm. Along with 50 best animated short films; SSAF is presenting two specialty workshops. One of them is designed by the legendary Shri. Ram Mohan’s Graphiti School of Animation (Mumbai) called “How to make a Professional Animation Portfolio (Going beyond the software)”. The second workshop is designed by Maya Academy of Advanced Cinematics, Bengaluru and is called “Animation & Visual Effects Trends”.

Around 500 participants including students, animation professionals, film lovers and enthusiasts are expected to attend this one-day festival. Entry for this festival is absolutely free of cost but registration is mandatory. You can register yourself for the festival.

Jidnyesh Mhatre, Founder and Festival Director, says, “SSAF is going to thrill the audience with a rich and wide range of content which comes from over 25 countries from all over the world. From a small country like Latvia to the city of Udupi in Karnataka, we have received an overwhelming response of over 400 entries which shows how much Animation is loved and practiced across the globe. It’s animation by everyone and for everyone”

“Imagination has no boundaries of language and age. Our youngest participant is 8 year old child from United Kingdom.” says Anvita Thapliyal (Festival Director) with excitement. SSAF’s youngest entry is award winning film ‘Immersion Emergence’ made by 8 year old students from United Kingdom under supervision of the National Broadcast Museum in Yorkshire. Along with this, the festival will showcase many multiple award winning short films like “Sebastian’s Voodoo” and “Papiroflexia” (both by Joaquin Baldwin) which have won more than 90 awards, “This is where we live” by Jordan Wood and “Pigeon Impossible” by Lucas Martell which has won over 20 awards at various festivals are also going to be shown at SSAF 2010.

The Festival is slated to finish in Mumbai in a two day event on the 26th and 27th and March 2010 @ YCPAIT auditorium in Nariman Point. More than 1500 people are expected to turn up for the 2 day event, which also includes an award ceremony on the 2nd day and exclusive workshops with Shri Ram Mohan himself.
